Permanent Laser Hair Removal

Blonde Hair … No Problem !!

We use the "Comet" hair removal system from Syneron. It is the most recent FDA approved hair removal system available. It is designed to provide maximum safety and efficacy for both men and women in removing unwanted hair from all parts of the body regardless of skin or hair color, with minimal patient discomfort. Based on Syneron's patented ELOS (Electro-Optical Synergy) technology, Comet utilizes a unique combination of light energy, conducted RF and cooling, enabling highly selective targeting of the follicle and shaft. This new technology is what makes this the first and only hair removal laser FDA approved to safely treat dark skin tones and blonde or gray hair.

Human hairs are made up of three parts: the bulb at the base of the hair follicle (which produces hair), the shaft, and the hair itself. The bulb and the shaft are embedded beneath the surface of the skin, therefore the hair is the only part visible to the naked eye.

In order to remove unwanted hair on a long-term basis it is necessary to destroy the hair follicle and its bulb.

Hair follicle follows a cycle that includes growth, resting and shedding. Generally 70-90% of your hair is growing at any one time (called the Anagen stage). And the other 10-30% of your hair is resting (called the Telogen stage). These figures are site-dependent. That is, they vary depending upon what part of the body the hairs are located.

At the end of the resting stage, each old hair sheds and new hair begins to grow again (Anagen stage). It is only during this growing phase that hair follicles can be disabled by laser hair removal.

The typical person has six hair growth cycles. It is necessary to treat each growth cycle to be completely hair-free.

The laser emits a gentle beam of light which only is absorbed by the hair follicle (leaving the skin unharmed). The laser delivers energy which is absorbed in the hair and transformed to heat. The heat destroys the hair follicle within a small fraction of a second.

There are no immediate visible results, however over the next several weeks the hair, now unattached from the destroyed hair bulb will be slowly pushed from the skin similar to the way a splinter is expelled.

When comparing Laser Hair Removal pricing and selecting where to have your treatments, it can become rather confusing. There are a few key questions to ask when shopping around.

1. What type of Laser will be used to perform your removal?
The market is saturated with different hair removal lasers. The laser equipment used is crucial in determining if you will receive permanent, pain-free results. Unfortunately, our local area market is saturated with older lasers. These lasers are often painful, cause ingrown hairs, and the results are not always permanent. An older laser can require you to have a slight hair growth, which can be an embarrassment. Older lasers cannot remove blonde, grey or light hair and do not work on tanned skin. It is very important to verify the type of laser that will be used and the age of the technology. Laser technology is similar to that of computer, it is always being improved. Look for the latest, greatest technology available.

At Laser & Skin Care Center of Nevada we use the most recently FDA approved laser available. The "Comet" by Syneron.

2. Who will be performing my procedure?
It is important to know who will be performing the treatment and what their education, training and experience is. "Technician" is a widely used term used to describe the person performing your procedure. Beware of this terminology, a hair removal laser is a medical piece of equipment and improper use will not only result in insufficient hair removal but can easily result in burns that may permanently scar. By asking who will be doing the procedure you will have a good idea of the results you can expect.

At Laser & Skin Care Center of Nevada a Syneron Certified Laser Nurse performs all of our laser procedures.

Prices are per treatment. Additional savings are offered when package of 6 treatments is purchased and/or multiple areas are treated.
